God has decreed it.  In the Garden of Eden, God said to Adam, “in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die”.  Genesis 2:17.   Adam disobeyed God and ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  Adam died spiritually that day.  Esau, Adam’s son offered a sacrifice of the fruit of the ground to God.  God rejected it.  Why?  No animal was killed as His brother Abel had offered.   No blood was spilt.  The fruit came from the earth that God cursed, because of Adam’s sin.  God in His grace and mercy instituted the slaying of lambs, bulls and goats upon an altar of earth for the temporal forgiveness of sins.  In order to appease God’s wrath this ordinance was given to the people of  Israel, and to the strangers within their borders, who would embrace this sacrificial offerings for the forgiveness of sins.  Note the word “sins”.  The annual sacrifices could only atone for sins co...

Valentine’s Day 2016 is gone.  It’s over.  It’s forgotten.  We are now on to Easter Eggs and all things yellow. Easter has been taken over by the secular world.  For a great many, outside and inside of Christendom, Easter is about eggs.  Easter has also been relegated to children, as Christmas has been.  I have often heard mothers of adult children – inside and outside of Christendom – say “Christmas is for children”.  Some mothers have mentioned that their children are grown and gone from the home, so they are no longer interested in celebrating Christmas.  They observe the Christmas activities inside and outside of the church from the sidelines. “ Till I come .”  Revelation 2:25   As believers in Jesus Christ, what do we have in our grasp?  We have the confession of our faith .  Let us hold onto our confession.  Our confession of our salvation:    “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10: 9, 10   “But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His Name.”  John 1:12. The Lord Jesus when He was here on earth on one occasion asked His disciples “….. who do you say that I am?”  “Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”  Jesus said to Peter   “……On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it”.  Matthew 16:15-18 Who is this Rock?   The Rock is Christ Jesus. 1Corinthians 10:4  The Lord Jesus was referring to Himself when He answered Peter – “On this rock I will build My church”. The Church universal is the body of Jesus Christ and it is comprised of all born again believers in Jesus Christ – irrespective of our name tags.  All of us who have been awoken by the Holy Spirit of God, of our sinfulness and of our need of the Savior and has responded by faith to that call, is a member of the church.  “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”    We needed...

Just wait out the storm.  The sun follows the storm.  I have seen this phenomenon a few times.  Yesterday, while I was praying the title of this blog came into my mind.  Immediately after I finished praying, I rushed to the window and looked out.  As I expected, the sun light was shining through the trees.  The sun was not quite fully shining in its strength.  It was a perfect sight. As we have seen on television and heard over the radio the calls coming from the authorities for people to stay inside.   However, some people for whatever reason chose to venture out on the roads.  Some got stuck.  They could not wait for the storm to finish.  People had to come alongside of them and dig them out.  Some had to abandon their vehicles on or alongside the street. In the Gospel of John Chapter 14 the Lord Jesus tells His disciples He will pray to the Father, and The Father will send them the Holy Spirit.  The King James Version in this chapter calls Him the Comforter, the New King James calls Him the Helper, and the New International version calls Him the Advocate.   The Holy Spirit comforts us, helps us and He advocates for us in our prayers to the Father “with groanings which cannot be uttered” Romans 8:26.   In verse 26 of John chapter 14 Jesus says,   “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”   The Holy Spirit is also our Teacher and He is holy.     In verse 17 Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as “The Spirit of Truth”.  In John 15:26 the Lord Jesus again calls him “the Spirit of Truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of me.”   Many times when I he...

As I was reading the Christmas story out of Luke chapters  1 and 2 about  a week or so before Christmas, the question arose in my mind.  How did the neighbors on Mary’s street react to this episode in their neighborhood?  I started to imagine. One of their neighbors – a nice quiet girl named Mary – could always be seen on any given day living her life.  Then it happened that some days passed, and Mary was not seen by the neighbors.   One may wonder, “What happened to Mary?” Now imagine you were living on Mary’s street during that time.  Knowing yourself as you are now, how would you have reacted  to Mary’s absence?  Some of us would  have said to ourselves, “I haven’t seen Mary in a while, I wonder if she is okay.  Oh well.”  We would continue on with our business.  Most men would react in this manner.  However, not many of us ladies would.  We would, want to know what’s going on.  Some day...
