It Is All About Love
Valentine’s Day 2016 is gone. It’s over.
It’s forgotten. We are now on to
Easter Eggs and all things yellow.
Easter has been taken over by the secular
world. For a great many, outside and
inside of Christendom, Easter is about eggs.
Easter has also been relegated to children, as Christmas has been.
I have often heard mothers of adult children –
inside and outside of Christendom – say “Christmas is for children”. Some mothers have mentioned that their
children are grown and gone from the home, so they are no longer interested in
celebrating Christmas. They observe the
Christmas activities inside and outside of the church from the sidelines.
The world system driven by the enemy of our souls,
has come in and removed the focus of the Christian’s celebration of Christmas
and Easter from the love of God to fun for the kids.
Yes, I understand that once pagans celebrated
these dates or dates close to these celebrations with their pagan
revelries. However Christianity came and
changed these observances to Christmas – the birth of Jesus Christ; and Easter
the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Any
holiday or day honoring the Lord Jesus Christ should be embraced by all
Christians. It is always better to honor
God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, than a pagan god or ourselves.
Christmas is about celebrating God’s love in
sending His Son to earth to die for us to redeem us to God. Read John3:16. If you created a business and it was failing
or beginning to fail, wouldn’t you try your best to keep what you created
going? This is what God did. He created us and He loves us. We failed Him through disobedience and we yielded
to Satan’s deception. God therefore, as
any wise and loving one would, He intervened and sent His Son to this earth to
live among us as a man - without sin. At
the age of 33 ½ years, He died in our place on Calvary’s cross outside of the
city of Jerusalem. “For the wages of sin
is death..” We inherited eternal death
from Adam’s disobedience. “but the gift
of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23.
On Easter we celebrate God’s victory over sin and
Satan through the resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ from the dead. This is a great reason for celebration. The penalty of our sin has been paid in
full. Eternal life has been secured for
us by God the Father who raised Jesus from the dead. The Lord Jesus has triumphed over death and
the grave. We can say victoriously, “O
death, where is your sting? O Hades where
is your victory?” 1Corinthians 15:55. We
will live forever! 1 Thessalonians 4:13
– 17. This is great news for us. This victory is worth celebrating throughout
the entire universe.
Jesus is alive and so are we in Him; if we accept
his death as payment for our sin. We are
now free from God’s judgement, as well as, we are free from the power of sin in
our lives. We are free to enjoy and love
God. The resurrection of the Lord Jesus
Christ from the dead has brought us freedom, and it is all because of love - God’s love toward
us.
Let us believers in Christ Jesus celebrate God’s
love at Christmas and at Easter. Let us not
be distracted by the world’s celebration. Think on God and what He has done for you, and
worship Him in any and every age group.
Love Him in return with all of your heart, with all of your soul – your
emotions. Do not be shy to love Him with
all of your emotions. Not sure how? Watch the lovers of sports on TV, or those in
your home. See how they display their
love for their team with their emotions, and learn from them. Love God with all of your mind – your
intellect. Use your intellect to promote
and honor God.
This Easter season let us celebrate God’s love by
making an effort to show Him love by thanking Him, or whatever the Holy Spirit
lays on our heart to do. Let us love our
neighbors, and love ourselves. Why?
God loves
us!!!
