The Sun Comes After the Storm
Just wait out the storm. The sun follows the storm. I have seen this phenomenon a few times. Yesterday, while I was praying the title of this blog came into my mind. Immediately after I finished praying, I rushed to the window and looked out. As I expected, the sun light was shining through the trees. The sun was not quite fully shining in its strength. It was a perfect sight.
As we
have seen on television and heard over the radio the calls coming from the
authorities for people to stay inside. However, some people for whatever reason chose
to venture out on the roads. Some got
stuck. They could not wait for the storm
to finish. People had to come alongside
of them and dig them out. Some had to
abandon their vehicles on or alongside the street.
The
frustration, the worry, their burden which was laid on others to solve, was it
all worth it? If they came away from their
situation with repentance and a resolution, maybe it was worth it. They may have the scars to prove it.
What
about those of us who heeded the calls to stay indoors. We were on the sidelines watching. We watched those who were stuck on the roads
and heard their trials. Some of us might
have prayed for them. Some of us might
have chastise them with our tongues for their disobedience to the authorities. Some of us might have just shaken our heads. Those of us who obeyed the calls to
relinquish our ambitions to ride through the snow saved ourselves from trouble
and anxiety. We also saved others from troubles
that would have been.
This
is a great lesson for us to learn from God.
No matter how severe the storm
is, no matter how long it lasts, The Son is in the background – if you will –
waiting out the storm. God watches over
us – He watches over the sparrow. He
knows all that we are going through may it be good or evil. God is looking on. Sometimes we cannot see Him because of the
grey clouds blocking our vision. However,
God is there and He is guiding the storm so it would not overwhelm us. Just as the meteorologist had predicted
hurricane force winds for our region, but we did not have them. The result was much less electrical outages than
were expected. So God looks out for His
children and others whom He chooses that we will not be consumed by the storms
that we encounter.
Some
people love drama in their lives. It is
exciting and exhilarating. Some people
love to test “the snow”. They love to be
the “dare devils”, but God loves obedience.
Our fleshly prowess does not impress God. He
wants our submission to His Will. “Ask,
and it will be given to you; seek, and
you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you; For everyone who asks receives, and he who
seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7,8
Let us
be wise and heed the warnings of friends and loved ones who surround us with
love and wisdom, and the Lord Jesus Christ and His word. Let us not rush out into the storm, but wait
it through with prayer and thanksgivings.
When the grey clouds finally disappear and they will; it may take a
while – too long we may think – but they will.
We will see The Son shining His blessings in and through our lives just
as I saw the sun shining through the trees with a golden shine. It was spectacular.
