I Am In His Presence
Where can I flee from Your presence?” asked David concerning
the Lord. As I was praying a few days
ago after I had awoken from sleep. I thanked the Lord for watching over us
during the night. The Holy Spirit
whispered to me, that we were in God’s presence. In other words, while I was sleeping I was in
God’s presence. WOW!!!
David said, “If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, …. You are
there.” David said if he lived in the uttermost
part of the sea, God would be there.
There is no place in the universe that we can go and be removed from
God’s presence. Even in the darkness
God sees us. His eyes are as a flame of
fire. Darkness and the light are both
alike to God.
I knew God was watching over us while we slept. In my mind, God was in heaven and I was in my
bed on the earth. To know that I am
sleeping in God’s presence is profound to me.
This means to me, God is in my space.
I am encircled by God’s presence.
My sleep will surely be sweeter now.
Psalm 4:8 reads: I will both lie down in peace, and
sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me
dwell in safety.
For there is not a word on my tongue but behold, O Lord, You
know it altogether. Psalms 139:4
WOW!! Before our words ever leave our tongues God
knows them. This verse should be a
fantastic influence on us to monitor the words on our tongues, as well as, a
great deterrent to subdue our speech. Confessing
and repenting to our Lord before those ugly words roll off of our tongues would
also be very rewarding for us. O how
much trouble and heartache we would save ourselves and others if we would
recognize that God knows the words on our tongues.
Verse 2 of Psalm 139 tells us that God knows what I am going
to do before I do it. God understands my
thought afar off. God not only knows my
thought He understands them. Sometimes I
may say to someone, “I know where you are coming from” in regard to an
experience the person had. God knows why
we thought what we thought. He knows the
reason for our thoughts. God knows if
the thought is a just or a sinful thought.
God is acquainted with all of our ways.
We should make it our business to become acquainted with His ways as
well. We are continually in His presence.
