God is Clothed With Majesty
Psalms 93:1: The Lord
reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The
Lord is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength. ……
Our Lord God is clothed with majesty. When I think of majesty, my thoughts take me
to one of the portraits of the Queen of England – Queen Elizabeth II. In the portrait that I am seeing in my mind,
the Queen is sitting in her royal robe with a blue band diagonally across her
chest and a crown of jewels on her head.
She definitely looks like royalty.
The verse in Psalms 93 tells us, God is clothed with majesty. He is the majestic One. His majesty is like no other. I cannot begin to imagine how majestic God
is. Psalm 29:4 says His voice is full of
majesty. When the Queen of England
speaks, her voice sounds dignified and proper with her British accent which
adds to the dignity of her tone. God’s
voice is as the sound of many waters.
Isaiah saw the Lord sitting on a throne high and lifted up,
and the train of His robe filled the temple.
Close your eyes and try to envision that scene. Isaiah did not tell us the color of the
robe. It was the train of the robe that
caught his attention. The train was magnificent,
too magnificent for words, and it filled the temple. God is a magnificent God. He is a God of beauty. He loves beauty. Job37:22 says, “With God is awesome
majesty.” The Psalmist David said “I will
meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty”. Psalm 145:5.
God’s majesty shows through in all of His works. The earth though tainted with sin is so beautiful. I love to view photos of sceneries of the
earth. These images are always
breathtaking, the sunrise, sunset, the mountains, valleys, the meadows and the
heavens are all majestic. God is truly
clothed with majesty. Our bodies are
fearfully and wonderfully made - inside and out.
The Lord Jesus when He was here on earth though He was
clothed in human form, yet His majesty shone through. John tells us Jesus was full of grace and
truth. Peter said they were eye
witnesses of Jesus’ majesty. Jesus was a
sight to behold. His compassion and His
grace were spectacular. No wonder the
multitudes followed Him. They all –
Pharisees and Sadducees included - wanted to see this man of whom they
heard. Luke 4:22:
All bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which
proceeded out of His mouth. The Lord Jesus
dressed majestically here on earth. The
Roman soldiers though tough and brawny could not bring themselves to tear His
coat. It was woven as one piece of
clothing. Instead they gambled for it.
When John was banished on the Island of Patmos for the Word
of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ, He saw Jesus “clothed with a
garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band”. He was dressed as royalty. His voice was as the sound of many waters.
God is majestic! How
do we come before God when we enter His house of worship? Many church buildings look every grand. Great! The equipment in the building is grand. Are the people who name the Name of Jesus going into these buildings
looking grand as well? Is God present
in our buildings of worship? Do we
believe He is there? If He isn’t present
in your house of worship, then why do you go there? If God is there, are you prepared in your body, soul and in your spirit to meet Him there? You may say, God is in me, so when I am in
God’s house He is there. True!! In my
younger days, the mini skirt was the order of the day. Today, tight, tight, extremely tight clothing
carries the day. From the human eye
every crease and fold on the body of those who wear these tight, tight clothing
can be seen. Today some people are
virtually walking around naked. Is this
the way God wants to see you whether in His house or outside? Is this tight, tight, extremely tight
clothing respectful to God? Does this
tight clothing we wear bring honor to God?
God is clothed with majesty. Let
us follow after God’s ways and not the world’s.
