Hope In The Lord Jesus Christ

Why are you cast down, O my soul?  And why are you disquieted within me? …. Psalms 42:11

I am sure many people in Paris today are having feelings of uneasiness and fear as they try to deal with the multiple acts of violence in their city.  In these unwanted situations, one of the first words that rushes into our minds is the word why.  Why did this tragedy occur?  Why us?  Why me?

Psalms 42:11 continues:  Hope in God.  We have to place our hope in God.  We have to trust God for the outcome.  He is over all, and He is a God of justice.  He cares for us, and He tells us “vengeance is mine I will repay”.  Romans 12:19  “Vengence belongs to God”.   Psalms 94:1.   Why?  He sees and knows everything.  He sees the entire workings of the event from the conception to the implementation to the consequence.   God is the only one qualified to give vengeance.

Deuteronomy 32:35 states: “ Vengeance is Mine, and recompense;  Their foot shall slip in due time;  For the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.”  I think this verse is a fit for last Friday’s tragedy in Paris.
 When people do us wrong, we are to give the situation and the persons over to God.  We leave vengeance to our God, and we step back and let him act in His time.    We cannot interfere even though we want to.

Governments should react to violence.  They are to punish those who violate the peace.  God has set up governments in the earth “to execute wrath on him who practices evil.”.  Romans 13:1-5  However, individuals especially believers in Jesus Christ should not avenge ourselves.  We should allow the Lord Jesus Christ to settle our issues.
The Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth is a God of justice and judgement.   He is also a God of love.  In fact God is love. “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16

For the believer in Jesus Christ, Our Savior has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us.  He will come to our aid. He will comfort us.  We do not have to be afraid of any threat.  God is with us.  The God of Jacob is our Refuge.

For the unbeliever, who calls out to God in prayer, “must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”. Hebrews 11:6


“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”  1 Peter  5:7

The Three In One in Our Daily Living

Love - The overriding factor
