The Three In One in Our Daily Living
God – Father Son
and Holy Spirit is involved in our living out our salvation.
When I awake in the
morning the first thing I do is pray.
The Holy Spirit is there in my praying to get it right for me. Romans 8:26 tells us: “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our
weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the
Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be
uttered.
The Holy Spirit
intercedes for us on behalf of our prayers.
Many a time we
cannot express what we are feeling or thinking as we desire. Our minds are twisted by our negative
experiences, the untruths we have been told, the sinful ways we perceived in ourselves
and others, our sinful acts that we have committed and are committing. All of these experiences and actions helped shape
our thinking. The Holy Spirit cuts
through all of our fog, and He knows what we should be saying to God, and He
communicates it.
Sometimes in our
praying we say things we should not say.
Yes. Sometimes we sin in our very
praying, and the Lord Jesus intercedes to the Father on our behalf.
The Lord Jesus
Christ intercedes to the Father on behalf of our sin.
“Now He who searches the hearts knows what the
mind of the Spirit is, because He
makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans
8:27
The Lord Jesus
knows the mind of the Holy Spirit, because He is One with the Spirit. Therefore, our Lord knows all that the Spirit
is groaning on our behalf. Our Lord also
searches our hearts. He knows all that
is in our hearts. Is not this a
comforting thought? There is no need for
us to pretend before God. We can come
open minded, honest and candid as we should.
Our Lord Jesus Christ knows it all.
Our Lord pleads our
cause to the Father according to the will of God. The Lord Jesus Christ is One with the Spirit
and One with the Father. He knows the
Will of God for the entire universe and He also knows the will of God for each
of us. Our Lord not only intercedes on
our behalf regarding our sinful actions and thoughts, but also on behalf of our
aspirations and our hearts desires.
Knowing the will of
God, knowing what is in our hearts, and knowing what the Spirit is
communicating, makes our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ the perfect Intercessor
on our behalf. As the potter works with
the clay to bring the object in his mind to reality using the clay, so the Lord
intercedes on our behalf to the Father to achieve the same result - a vessel
that brings glory to the Father in our daily living.
