W hat a privilege we have to be guided by the Holy Spirit. The God of the universe directing our daily lives here on this earth. Is this for real? Yes it is.  The God of this universe surely has better things to do than to be engage in our daily, hourly, minutely living? After all He has a universe to run. However, what gives God greater pleasure than to indwell His creation and guide them around the potholes of life. He leads us in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. He enjoys our pathway as He accompanies us along the way. Psalm 22:3 tells us, “God enthrones Himself in the praises of His people”. God desires to walk with us.  God Almighty – Creator of heaven and earth called out Abraham to walk with Him. He would accompany Abraham to a place that He would lead him to. Yesterday we celebrated the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In his famous “I have a dream” speech Dr. King spoke to reconciliation between blacks and whites, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics. Reconciliation produces harmony and peace.   Legislation cannot produce reconciliation only forgiveness can. We see this in the parable Jesus gave regarding a young man and his father in Luke 15: 11-32. The father had two sons and the younger son decided he would leave his father’s house. He asked his father for his inheritance. His father gave him his inheritance and he left home. No doubt, he left happy and had many dreams floating around in his head. His father was not happy. His son had left without his approval. He had transgressed his father’s will and intent.  The day came when the son met on hard times and had absolutely nothing in his possession. January 1 is a new beginning. It is the first day of 2014. We have not been this way before. This is a new adventure for us all. We do not know what lies ahead of us. If we think upon this truth it can be a bit scary. We may have our plans. We may know what we desire to accomplish in 2014. However, the reality is, we do not know with any certaintywhat lies ahead of us. Genesis 1:1 tells us in the beginningGod created the heavens and the earth.  Have you taken a look towards the heavens recently? How vast it is. How magnificant it is. I love to travel by air, sit next to a window in the plane and watch the various forms of the clouds. Their beauty always take my thoughts to the One who created them. Psalm 19:1 declares: " The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork."  Take a look around you at nature as we call it - the trees, the snow in winter and beautiful blossoms and flowers in the spring and in the summer. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork. Psalm 19:1 The declaration of the glory of God is made known in the message of creation. This message is understood in every language. There is no people who cannot understand the speech of creation. Its message is powerful. (Psalm 19:1-3) The speech of creation tells of beauty, of power, of excellence in imagery, of wisdom, of glory and grandeur. Its message tells of a Being who is supreme in intelligence, wisdom, and excellent in power. The universe speaks volumes of the supreme intelligence and intricate wisdom of its Maker - The Almighty God, The God of the universe. I AM is His Name. (Exodus 3:14) How could a majestic universe as this create itself? God’s “hand has laid the foundation of the earth” and his “right hand has stretched out the heavens”. God is Soverign. God is supreme in the earth. Nothing occurs in the universe without God’s consent. Even the sparrow is observed by God Matthew 10:29. God rules in the affairs of humankind. Our Lord Jesus “is the Head of all principality and power”. Colossians 2:10 1 Peter 3:22 tells us that Jesus “has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him”. The Lord Jesus Christ is over all powers and authorities. He knows and He controls whatever is going on in the kingdoms and governments of men. He allows natural disasters to occur. He allows calamities to happen. He also limits the extent of the damage and injury in every chaotic situation. The Lord Jesus saves, He protects, He watches over peoples as well as individuals in the midst of the chaos. Whenever there is a chaotic situation, we always hear of people telling their story of escape or deliverance in the midst of the calamity. The Lord Jesus Christ ...

A few days ago I was at home, when I heard a knock on my door. I looked and I saw two ladies. I turned away from the door and went back to my reading. I thought if I heard the knocks again, I will answer the door. Before I could pick up my Bible to read, sure enough the knocking started again and a little louder this time. I answered the door. One of the ladies - the spokeswoman of the two – thanked me for answering the door. Then she commented on how commonplace prejudice is. She asked me if I knew of a country or place without prejudice. I said no. She then asked me what was the solution for ridding the world of prejudice?  I told her I was looking for the return of the Lord Jesus. Then I mentioned, as an afterthought, the heavens and the earth will be burned up (no need for me or anyone to worry about ridding the world of prejudice). My mentioning the burning of the earth and the heavens, struck a nerve. She said to me.  “Why would God burn the earth and the heavens...

A Sunday ago in my church we were singing the chorus, “O Lord Jesus, how long, how long ere we shout the glad song? Christ returneth! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Amen!” The thought came into my mind while we were singing those words the third time around. Will we have time to shout those words when our Lord returns? 1Corinthians 15:52 reads “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” I do not know if we will have time to think, furthermore shout. The Lord’s coming will be in an instant. As we blink our eyes to take it all in we will be in heaven. 1Thessalonians 4:16 informs us: “For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.” Our Lord Jesus will be doing the shouting, and what a shout that will be. His shout will awake the dead in Christ. The voice of an ar...
